Also known as the Coffee Axis, Coffee Triangle, or Cultural Coffee Landscape, this region makes up almost 20% of the total Colombian population, since it covers four of its most important municipalities: Caldas, Quindío, Risaralda, and the northern part of Valle del Cauca. The beautiful geography creates an incredible scenery filled with crystalline rivers, deep green mountains from The Andes, and extensions of land dedicated to preserving the agricultural lifestyle while producing high-quality coffee, avocados, bananas, and sugar, among other national icons.
In the Coffee Region, recognized by UNESCO as World Heritage Landscape, there are plenty of natural landmarks with adrenaline-filled and ecological adventures, like the Cocora Valley, home of the wax palms (Colombia’s National Tree), the Coffee Park, the Ukumarí Biopark, and Los Yarumos Ecopark. And of course, each of the main cities and colorful towns has its own offer of traditional hotels, restaurants (some known as ‘fondas’), and historic buildings where the friendly ‘paisa’ community shares its culture with travelers from all over the world.
