VAOVA was recognized at the 2020 ProColombia National Tourism Awards in the category 'Premio al liderazgo en estrategias innovadoras en turismo' for its leadership and creative resilience during a year in which the global tourism industry faced unprecedented disruption.
The recognition focuses on VAOVA's strategic approach to keeping Colombia relevant for international audiences when traditional tourism activity was paused. This included new ways of telling the destination's story, digital storytelling formats and the protection of creative capability that would later return to operate in-person programs.
The Premios Nacionales de Turismo ProColombia identify organizations that contribute to the long-term international positioning of Colombia as a tourism, events and MICE destination. The 2020 edition was particularly focused on resilience and innovation under pressure.
